Manatt’s cannabis and CBD practice leader Anita Famili, government and regulatory partner Brandon Young and litigation associate Mario Cardona authored an article for Bloomberg Law on California’s new law allowing parents and guardians to bring and administer the use of certain medicinal cannabis products to students at K-12 public schools. The article discusses the importance of the law, which is known as Jojo’s Act, in further bolstering California’s status as a leader in the cannabis reform movement. The authors also note that while Jojo’s Act is a state-level regulation, it does not “force school districts to adopt policies around medicinal cannabis, and it does not require school personnel to administer it…Jojo’s Act rightfully places that choice with communities and families.”
