Mackenzie Pearson is a Manatt Entertainment associate in the firm’s Los Angeles office. She practices primarily within the music industry, where she advises and counsels a wide variety of music industry players on both the talent side and the corporate side, including emerging and established recording artists, producers, songwriters, DJs and bands, as well as record labels, music publishing companies, talent agencies, brands and management companies. She also has experience in corporate transactional matters affecting the entertainment industry.
Mackenzie’s practice focuses on securing, negotiating and documenting a multitude of entertainment-related transactions, including recording and music publishing agreements, music catalog acquisitions, distribution agreements, producer and production agreements, songwriter agreements, featured artist agreements, merchandising, branding and licensing agreements, live performance agreements, and management agreements.
In particular, Mackenzie has extensive experience in representing and advising music and entertainment clients in connection with employment-related matters, including negotiating and documenting employment contracts, tour employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, and consultancy agreements on behalf of high-profile touring musicians, talent agencies, record labels, music publishing companies, management companies and executives, as well as individual artists and musicians.
Before joining Manatt, Mackenzie worked as a legal intern at NBCUniversal. While in law school, Mackenzie advised emerging artists and creators as a clinical intern for USC’s Intellectual Property and Technology Law Clinic.
