Kalon Gutierrez is a managing director with Manatt’s digital and technology consulting practice in the firm’s San Francisco office. As an entrepreneur and strategist, Kalon leads technology and innovation initiatives for top disrupters, including co-founding three consumer-focused companies.

Kalon guides next-generation consumer, retail, media and entertainment, financial services and education companies through the full landscape of business, brand development, partnership, investment and growth opportunities.

Prior to joining Manatt, Kalon founded a boutique strategy consulting firm serving some of the world’s most recognized technology, retail and financial services brands. Previously, he held leadership roles at ZoomSystems (automated retail) and J.C. Penney during its retail transformation, and co-founded Nomadic, an immersive virtual reality entertainment company, where he hired and built the marketing, communications and development teams and led external partnerships and investment. Kalon has led business development for large retail stores and automated retail systems, and also co-founded Bixbee, a B corporation that gives a backpack and school supplies to a child in need for every backpack sold.

Kalon is a writer and featured speaker on emerging technology trends, diversity and inclusion, and leadership. He also serves on the advisory teams of various academic institutions and growth companies.
