Join Manatt and Innovators From Callen-Lorde and NY State of Health for a Dynamic Roundtable Exploring New Policy Opportunities and Strategies for Advancing Coverage and Care.
Access to coverage and care is the linchpin of a high-functioning health care system. Coverage gaps not only harm people, they create inefficiencies and preventable costs. With the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, the country began to move in the right direction toward universal coverage. Policy choices over the last four years, however, undermined access to coverage and care in both the public and private markets. At the same time, decades of neglect of our public health infrastructure became glaringly obvious as the COVID-19 pandemic focused a spotlight on gaps in coverage and care and related social and economic disparities.
In a new webinar—the first in our “Ten Health Care Imperatives for the Decade Ahead” series—Manatt Health will lead an interactive panel discussion exploring coverage and care issues, strategies and opportunities. Thought leaders from Callen-Lorde Community Health Center and New York State of Health will join us to examine key challenges to accessing coverage and care—and fresh solutions for overcoming hurdles and moving forward, including what to expect from the Biden administration and how states are innovating. The dynamic session will:
- Provide a snapshot of the number of Americans without health insurance.
- Focus on strategies to expand access to coverage and care.
- Present a brief overview of how the Biden administration has already signaled its interest in advancing access to coverage and care.
- Describe recent congressional activity, including provisions in the COVID-19 relief package that are designed to promote access to coverage and care.
- Discuss concrete steps to advance coverage and care in light of both emerging policy opportunities and on-the-ground challenges.
