Firm continues to expand its integrated legal and consulting services in New York with latest attorney hire
Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, a multidisciplinary, integrated national professional services firm, announced today that Monika Tashman has joined the firm’s New York office as partner in the entertainment practice. Tashman brings a strong background in strategic and innovative brand development for both emerging and established companies and high-profile talent in the entertainment, media and technology industries. She is the second partner to join the entertainment practice at Manatt recently, following the addition of Neil Sacker as partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office in December.
Tashman is known for working with companies at the intersection of entertainment and innovation, guiding her clients through opportunities to capitalize on a diverse range of new distribution channels and technologies to elevate their brand in the marketplace. Her clients range from creative artists and emerging entrepreneurs to independent record labels and new media and technology companies. She helps brands and talent broaden their opportunities to connect with new audiences and maximize their business potential through new streams of revenue.
“Monika’s deep experience in helping clients navigate the challenges and opportunities in brand reputation and awareness in a constantly evolving entertainment landscape speaks to her entrepreneurial thinking and approach,” said Lindsay Conner, partner and leader of Manatt’s entertainment group.
Prior to joining Manatt, Tashman was a partner of Fox Rothschild LLP, where she advised on and managed client relationships in the entertainment, media and technology practices. Tashman’s multidisciplinary background provides her with a unique understanding of clients’ needs in protecting assets and ensuring career longevity.
“Monika is a no-nonsense, creative and innovative advocate. We are very excited for her to join our growing ranks and to help us expand our music transactional practice in New York,” said Jordan Bromley, leader of Manatt’s entertainment transactions practice.
“Innovation is in Manatt’s DNA, from working with some of the most exciting and disruptive companies in entertainment to its forward-thinking integrated services model that blends legal and consulting expertise. I’m thrilled to join a firm I’ve long admired and help grow their East Coast entertainment practice,” said Tashman.
Tashman is active in a variety of industry organizations, including the GRAMMY Music Education Coalition, a member of the Advisory Board for Women in Music and was the New York lead and a member of the steering committee of her previous firm’s Women’s Initiative. She earned her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and her B.S. in mass communications from New York University.
