FIFA's Legal Woes Likely to Expand
The Federation Internationale De Football Association (FIFA), has become the target of the U.S. Department of Justice, which is investigating possible corruption. Less known is that FIFA was sued in 2014 in a California federal court regarding the legal issues surrounding concussions in soccer, especially for children under the age of 14.
Although that case against FIFA was recently dismissed with prejudice in a 46-page order dated July 16, 2015, Ron Katz, the Chair of Manatt's Sports Law Practice Group, stated in an article earlier this week that that Order may not spell the end of FIFA's legal problems in this area. Katz's article is linked here.
