CA Climate Disclosure Mandates—Deadlines Hold and the Clock is Ticking

Client Alert

Even California’s “Climate Governor” had concerns about rushing hastily into California’s unprecedented climate disclosure mandate laws. So much so, he proposed a two-year delay in their implementation. The Legislature responded with an emphatic “no.” After much negotiation and speculation, the Legislature passed and Governor Newsom signed SB 219 which granted the California Air Resources Board an additional six months to draft implementing regulations but left all compliance deadlines intact. Accordingly, those required to make disclosures of emissions and climate “risks” will have to measure and assess them for fiscal year 2025 and report them in 2026.
