Guyer Quoted in Law360 About How Executive Order to End Gender Affirming Care Can Impact Providers

Manatt Health Senior Managing Director  was quoted in a Law360 article discussing how the executive order seeking to end gender affirming care for minors may affect health care providers, especially as they navigate their own state laws.

Health care providers are uncertain about how to navigate this executive order, especially since there could be future litigation focusing on transgender discrimination and equality rights, according to the article. While some hospitals have already limited their care to gender affirmative youths, Guyer cautioned that terminating care too early, especially for those currently going through treatment, can lead to legal risks due to existing state laws. “Providers need to be ready for what is to come, but, for now, they also need to be careful not to shut down care prematurely, especially for young people already in the midst of treatment,” Guyer said.
