Anderson Quoted in Bloomberg Law on Intellectual Property Rights of Content Creators and Influencers

Social Media Stars Lock Down IP Rights to Cash in on Virality
– Bloomberg Law

Manatt Entertainment Partner W. Joseph Anderson was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article discussing how influencers and content creators are taking steps to protect their intellectual property (IP).

As more creators are realizing any aspect of their content can have significant value for their brand, they are seeking out lawyers and learning about IP protections that can help fight misuse and knockoffs of their property. Many influencers are unaware that they possess trademark rights, as Anderson noted. He added that it's important for these figures to understand their rights as well as the necessary steps to protect those rights. Creators “don’t necessarily know exactly what rights they’re relying on for [their brand],” he said. “But they do realize that anything and everything they do has a value.”
