Leader of Manatt’s Consumer Financial Services practice Scott Pearson was quoted in American Banker about how the Supreme Court’s recent ruling in West Virginia v. EPA could affect the authority of federal financial regulators.  

Pearson said the decision could lend support to the financial services industry’s legal arguments when bringing lawsuits against the Biden administration. He said the decision is “a further indication that the Supreme Court is concerned about regulatory overreach,” but said the case’s impact won’t happen overnight.
