Manatt Privacy and Data Security Partner Brandon Reilly was quoted in Adweek about the end of a California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) exemption that allowed companies to collect, use and share business-to-business data with little restriction under the state’s sweeping privacy law.
With the state legislature unable to pass a bill extending the exemption, Reilly explained that personal information collected by enterprise services won’t be exempt and would have a “significant” impact on businesses. Reilly also explained that compliance costs will be significant and will involve legal and privacy professionals.
