Manatt Entertainment Senior Counsel Larry Marks represented filmmaker David Kaufmann in the sale of screen rights for a new live-action horror-comedy series known as Weird NJ to Sony Pictures Television.
The series will be based on the well-known Weird NJ magazines, first published in 1993, about an estranged family that is forced to protect New Jersey from evil. Weird NJ will highlight the back roads and haunted places found all over the state of New Jersey. Kaufmann is set to executive produce the series under his Devonsheer Media banner alongside writer Kieran Valla, and Vertigo Entertainment executive producers Roy Lee and Aengus McLoone.
