Manatt is proud to celebrate National Pro Bono Week 2022 and continue its deep commitment to ensuring that everyone retains the liberties and protections to which they are legally entitled.
In just this past year, the entire Manatt community—including attorneys, consultants and business professionals—has committed itself to pro bono initiatives across the country that both support systemic change and help on the individual level. This work includes:
- Working with humanitarian immigration seekers in a wide variety of matters, including helping refugees apply for asylum; domestic violence survivors apply for U visas or Violence Against Women Act protections; and abused, abandoned or neglected children apply for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.
- Assisting eligible small-business owners and entrepreneurs, particularly those from underrepresented communities, with contract, copyright, corporate governance-related and tax issues.
- Advocating for veterans and their families who were wrongly denied benefits owed to them.
Additionally, since Manatt initiated its formal pro bono program in 2005, our professionals in Southern California have handled more than 500 adoption-related matters in the state, finalizing adoptions for over 1,000 children in foster care.
