Co-leader of Manatt’s privacy and data security practice Scott Lashway spoke with Daily Journal about the impact of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), enforcement of which began on July 1. In the article, Lashway noted that he expected the state attorney general to move forward with enforcement, even though proposed regulations to implement the law have not yet been approved by the Office of Administrative Law. He also discussed the potential impact that enforcement of the CCPA might have on civil lawsuits surrounding breaches that expose consumer data.
