Manatt Health director Jared Augenstein was featured on GenXys’ Precision Insights Podcast, where he discussed the growth of telehealth prior to and amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, Augenstein noted that one of the largest factors in the adoption of telemedicine has been employers. “Employers have, for a long time, been on the cutting edge of telehealth coverage, and have seen the value of covering telehealth because absenteeism and presenteeism benefits that particularly will accrue to a provider,” Augenstein said. “Employers have been more generous in covering telehealth services if they are self-insured in their plans because they see that there are indirect benefits in a way that are harder to account for in other parts of the payment system,” he added.
