Manatt’s Ron Turovsky, leader of the civil trial and appellate practice, spoke to the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) for a Board Spotlight feature about his work leading LAFLA’s governance committee.
Turovsky was asked to join LAFLA by then-Board President Glenn Pomerantz, and was involved in the creation of the organization’s governance committee, also serving as its first chair. This committee focuses on expanding the board and making its service meaningful and productive for the entire organization.
“That role helped me to get more deeply involved in the organization, to understand better its operations, and to get to know better the terrific people associated with the organization,” he said. “This work in particular made my personal involvement most meaningful. I recently transitioned out of the position of chair of the committee but remain involved in its activities.”
Turovsky also said he looks forward to continued work with the organization.
“As a board member, I continue to learn about the services LAFLA provides, the new programs it creates, the individual stories of LAFLA’s successes, and the incredible people working for LAFLA,” he said "It is most rewarding for me just to be able to do my part by making sure the organization has the support it needs to continue to do its work.”
