Manatt’s Jack Quinn, a partner in the firm’s government and regulatory practice, spoke with CNN about President Trump’s recent assertion that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told him he’s not a target of Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation, as reported by The New York Times.
Quinn told CNN’s Don Lemon that Mueller still “has a lot of work to do” in his investigation, and he has previously indicted people close to Trump for lying about coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
“What were they indicted for? They’re indicted for lying,” said Quinn. “What kind of lies? Lies about Russia. So there’s still a lot of smoke in the air, and Mueller needs to just finish this investigation at his own pace and make a judgment about whether there was, in fact, coordination.”
