Manatt’s Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, spoke to The Washington Post about the Trump administration’s approach to the Affordable Care Act and its potential impact on insurance marketplaces.
In late March, the Justice Department said it backs a full invalidation of the Affordable Care Act, a health law signed into effect in 2010.
Ario said this move could give insurers uncertainty about who will buy their health insurance plans, and what those plans will need to cover.
“I think you kind of settle in for a roller-coaster with this president,” said Ario, who directed the insurance marketplaces during the Obama administration. “Each time you think he’s going to support it, he undercuts it. It’s the back and forth that makes the insurers a little less aggressive.”
