Manatt Health’s recent report, “Assessing the Regulatory Burden on Inpatient Psychiatric Facilities,” on inpatient psychiatric facility regulations was detailed in a new article in Modern Healthcare.
The study found that inpatient psychiatric facilities across the country face over $1.7 billion a year in compliance costs, stemming from inconsistent surveys from private and state agencies as well as outdated regulations.
Manatt Health took a look at 62 inpatient facilities for the study, in order to hone in on the top regulatory burdens they face and make recommendations for changes. The practice also looked at data from the 2016 CMS hospital cost report to determine the approximate regulatory costs for facilities across the country.
