Manatt Health partner and lead author Helen Pfister spoke with STAT on Manatt Health’s recent release of its Comprehensive 50-State Survey: State Medicaid Programs and 340B. In the article, Pfister discusses the interplay between the Medicaid and 340 programs, as well as the issue of duplicate discounts, saying, “it may well be that, in some states, the Medicaid exclusion file is working fine, but the issue of duplicate discounts is a very big deal.” Pfister adds: “If the pharmaceutical industry were able to drill down into the extent which double discounts occur, it would put some parameters around what, until now, has been a very nebulous practice due to a lack of hard information.”
