Cindy Mann, a partner in Manatt Health, spoke to the Healthcare Financial Management Association about new developments in the push for Medicaid and Medicare to address the social determinants of health.
Mann is the former head of the Medicaid office at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. “States and plans—and to some degree health systems—are now thinking about that next generation,” said Mann. “How do you bring it to scale, how do you systematize it, how do you think about a sustainable financial arrangement, and also how do you test it—what interventions work, what interventions don’t work.
