As reported by PeHub and the North Bay Business Journal, Manatt represented Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group in an early stage investment in iMod Structures, a Vallejo, California, startup manufacturer of modular classrooms. The Series A funding round, led by Goldman, totaled $11 million.
The company, formerly known as Intermodal Structures, reportedly intends to use the funding to complete modifications to its factory building—part of the former Mare Island Naval Shipyard—and to more than triple its workforce. iMod Structures designs, manufactures and installs high-performance steel-frame classrooms that are reconfigurable and relocatable to create modern and sustainable learning environments.
Scott Schwartz led the Manatt finance team for this project, and government and regulatory partners Kathleen Brown and Randy Keen advised on regulatory aspects, all with support from corporate and finance partners Neil Faden and Peter Olberg and associate Ben Ryzak.
