Manatt’s Patricia Boozang, senior managing director with Manatt Health, spoke to CNN about potential expansion of state-level access to Medicaid.
Federal funding for Medicaid expansion on a state level became available in 2010 with the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Healthcare advocacy groups have said they are hoping that the 14 holdout states that have yet to accept the federal funds will change their minds. Maine and Virginia officially expanded earlier this year.
Boozang said the 2017 repeal-and-replace debate around the ACA “created a heightened public understanding and support” for Medicaid.
