Manatt Financial Services partner Anita Boomstein wrote an article for PaymentsSource on the importance and limitations of the SAFE Banking Act, which was recently passed in the House. In the article, Boomstein notes that while the bill would provide a means for legitimate cannabis-related businesses and their service providers to receive banking services, it would place the onus on banks to ensure that their partners in the cannabis industry are in full compliance with local regulations for the industry.
