Manatt’s Christine Reilly, chair of the firm’s TCPA compliance and class action defense practice, was interviewed by Law360 for an article on the future of the Federal Communications Commission’s relationship to the Hobbs Act.
The publication noted that the Supreme Court will decide on how much deference must be provided to the FCC on the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Further, the decision will impact the way plaintiffs and defendants pose issues and impact whether district courts are required to follow the FCC’s interpretations under the Hobbs Act.
“The application of the Hobbs Act has been an elusive question for some time now,” said Reilly. “It’s about time we gain some clarity on the applicability of this statute.”
