Manatt’s Bruce Gyory, a senior advisor in the firm’s government and regulatory practice, was interviewed by WCNY radio on the special election results in Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District.
Gyory explained that this race is particularly interesting because, in context, Republicans usually carry the district in a presidential race by about 20 points. In the district’s congressional races, there were no Democratic opponents in the past two elections. He noted that this is now the second special election, following Alabama, in which the turnout pattern generated by President Trump may not have helped the Republican candidate.
