Manatt’s Irah Donner, a partner in the firm’s intellectual property practice, was quoted by Law360 in an article discussing a recent patent-eligibility case.
The publication explained that the Federal Circuit recently upheld patents that they found do not claim patent-ineligible abstract ideas or laws of nature, which has left attorneys seeking more guidance on where future courts will draw the line.
"It's a very troublesome area that has got a lot of lawyers who represent patent owners looking for more guidance," said Donner.
