Manatt’s Randi Seigel, a partner with Manatt Health, was interviewed by Bloomberg Law for an article on the potential effects of proposed changes to Medicaid’s managed care enrollment process.
The changes might give states more flexibility and choice, potentially easing regulatory burdens and increasing strategic options, according to the publication. Seigel expects such changes to encourage more expansive enrollment through hospitals, doctors, medical equipment suppliers and other providers.
“These policy ideas could include penalizing health-care providers that don’t update enrollment information,” said Seigel, “thus making it harder for some terminated providers to re-enroll in Medicaid, and streamlining enrollment procedures for Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP and possibly Medicaid managed care.”
