Manatt’s Craig Moyer, a partner in the firm’s energy practice, was interviewed by Law360 for an article on the Trump administration’s proposal to cut back on greenhouse gas emissions standards.
The administration’s proposal would not only cut back on standards, but also would take away California’s power to set its own standards.
“I'm not suggesting that the Trump administration will win this argument, but I think they've taken the stronger approach,” said Moyer. “It's saying EPA can do what it wants, it can do things like change the emissions standards for the vehicles, [but] what it can't do is override the CAFE standards, which are under NHTSA's authority.”
