Manatt’s Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, spoke with Bloomberg Law for an article on the proposed extension of the Obama-era risk adjustment program.
Extending this program would allow health insurers to continue transferring money to compensate insurers with higher-risk patients. This program aims to maintain stability in healthcare insurance markets.
“Really what they needed was to issue better justification for the program, and that’s what they’re doing now,” Ario said. “There should be no new market disruption on risk adjustment. It’s a good thing that they did today.”
