Manatt’s Bruce Gyory, a senior advisor in the firm’s government and regulatory practice, was interviewed by Politico to discuss political corruption in New York during Governor Andrew Cuomo’s tenure.
Four high-profile corruption trials have resulted in convictions in the time Cuomo has been in office, including his former campaign manager, former leaders of the Assembly and the Senate with close ties to Cuomo, and Alain Kaloyeros, who worked with Cuomo’s donors. The story also examined the potential impact on Cuomo’s bid for a third term.
“Because it’s pervasive and has affected everyone, no one comes to it with clean hands,” said Gyory. “The only defense mechanism the system has is, basically, it’s been productive.”
