The Daily Journal quoted Manatt’s Robert Jacobs, co-chair of the firm’s entertainment, media and sports litigation practice, for an article on the New York criminal investigation targeting President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen.
Jacobs explained that the criminal case could ultimately provide free and potentially invaluable discovery to civil litigants.
“In some instances, civil litigants are very happy for criminal proceedings to move forward, because prosecutors end up saving a lot of time by doing a lot of the work they’d otherwise have to do. They can ride the coattails,” he explained.
