Cindy Mann, a Manatt Health partner with more than three decades of experience in federal- and state-level health policy, testified before the California Assembly Select Committee on Healthcare Delivery Systems and Universal Coverage on Dec. 11.
As part of an informational hearing on universal coverage and cost-containment in the United States, Mann’s testimony focused on how Medicaid buy-in approaches could further the state’s goals. Others who testified during Cindy’s segment on universal coverage systems in other states and cities included Peter Shumlin, former governor, state of Vermont; Heather Howard, director, State Health and Value Strategies and lecturer in public affairs, Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University; and Ken Jacobs, chair, UC Berkeley Center for Labor Research and Education.
In September of this year, Mann testified in opposition to the Graham-Cassidy bill before the United States Senate Committee on Finance’s hearing to consider the proposal, which was eventually overturned.
