Politico quoted Manatt’s Ian Spatz, a senior advisor with Manatt Health, in an article about the anticipation building ahead of an FDA commissioner appointment.
The publication reports that most onlookers believe the choice for the appointment is down to two candidates—Scott Gottlieb and Jim O’Neill—with many saying Trump’s deregulatory agenda for FDA favors O’Neill. Others point out that Gottlieb may fit in just fine with Trump’s vision for the agency.
“Scott Gottlieb has written extensively about ways he thinks FDA regulation has gone too far—it’s not like [Trump] is thinking of some liberal Democrat,” said Spatz.
