Manatt’s Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, was interviewed by the Los Angeles Times on how new proposals could leave Americans with pre-existing conditions without coverage.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the Affordable Care Act equalized the way health insurers treated patients. Although this meant higher costs for some consumers who enjoyed lower premiums before the ACA went into effect, Ario explained that uniform standards are necessary to ensure equal access to coverage. “It doesn’t work unless everyone participates on the same terms,” said Ario.
