City & State New York interviewed Manatt’s Bruce Gyory, a senior advisor with the firm’s government and regulatory practice, in a segment about New York state’s newest budget.
Gyory said that even after years of close-to-on-time budgets, a nine-day-late budget isn’t a huge deal for the state.
“Is it worthy to comply with the Constitutional mandate? Yes, but it’s a question of when,” Gyory said. “Two months is way too late. One week with a good budget that actually gets stuff done? I don’t think that’s the end of the world.”
