Medicaid Shifts Across the Nation

Managed Care Rule, Anti-Fraud Measures, Mental Health in Medicaid Spotlight
– InsideHealthPolicy

InsideHealthPolicy interviewed Manatt's Patricia Boozang, a senior managing director with Manatt Health, for an article about the shifts in Medicaid that have begun in light of legislative changes that are in the works.

InsideHealthPolicy reports that Congress is quickly moving to crack down on fraud, address federal matching rates, tackle the opioid crisis and pass comprehensive mental health reform. Meanwhile, some states are making last ditch efforts to move on innovative Medicaid expansions, as the current administration's time ticks to a close and the future of the Affordable Care Act is unknown.

Boozang said she anticipates a new waiver or amendment in Kentucky. Gov. Matt Bevin (R-KY) said in his 2016 state of the state address that he wants to make changes to Kentucky's current Medicaid expansion. Boozang is also tracking expansion activity in Nebraska and Maine, which she notes have bills introduced every year to expand Medicaid.
