Greenville News quoted Manatt’s Deborah Bachrach, a partner with Manatt Health, for an article about the impact that repealing the Affordable Care Act could have on hospitals.
Repealing the ACA means more people will have less coverage, less comprehensive coverage or both, said Bachrach, and that means reduced revenues for hospitals to support the services they provide.
“Every time we cut coverage it not only impacts consumers, but it impacts the healthcare providers on which they rely,” she said. “And because hospitals and hospital ERs have traditionally been the primary care doctors for folks without insurance, people will still get sick, and still show up at the hospital, but they will not have the resources to pay their bills, so hospital uncompensated care will go up.”
