Inside Health Reform quoted Manatt’s Ian Spatz, a senior advisor with Manatt Health, in an article about the likelihood that Republicans will retain accountable care organizations (ACOs) despite repealing the Affordable Care Act.
Spatz said the origins of ACOs predate the ACA, and he said there is no reason to think that Republicans would reverse the trend toward providers sharing risk, working together and sharing the savings they generate, which are all key components of ACOs. He said ACOs and other demonstrations that move away from the fee-for-service system are not partisan.
