July 14, 2013 - Crain's New York quoted Manatt's Patricia Boozang, a managing director with Manatt Health Solutions, on how insurance carriers are re-structuring their business models to prepare for the opening of the New York state health exchange.
As reported by Crain's New York, Fidelis Care is one of several New York City nonprofit health plans that will start selling health coverage on the state-run online marketplaces opening this fall. Like other insurers, Fidelis has overhauled how it does business so it can participate in the exchange, which aims to make it cheaper and easier for individuals and small businesses to purchase healthcare.
"It is a huge lift for everybody, a tremendous undertaking for the state," said Boozang, who works with the Coalition of New York State Public Health Plans, a group of insurers that, like Fidelis, specialize in Medicaid, Medicare, Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus.
