Manatt Appellate Senior Counsel Michael M. Berger will speak at the 21st annual Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference with two presentations. The conference will take place in person on September 13, 2024 at the William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia and will be streamed virtually.
The first of Michael’s two panels will honor Gideon Kanner, a former Manatt counsel and namesake of the conference, who passed away in late 2023. The second, titled “Is SCOTUS Your Friend?,” will address significant land use certiorari petitions the Supreme Court has declined, leaving troubling lower court precedents intact.
The Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference gathers judges, attorneys and academics to explore recent property rights developments. It awards the Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Prize to individuals who have advanced property rights and raised awareness of their importance in individual liberty. Michael M. Berger received the award in 2014.
