Manatt Employment and Labor Practice Leader Esra Hudson was named to the 2023 list of Top Labor & Employment Lawyers by Daily Journal.
With a reputation for successfully defending major companies in wage-and-hour actions, Hudson was recognized for guiding clients through high-stakes matters, especially in California where the law can be unfriendly to employers under the Private Attorney General Act. Notably, she defended a non-California insurance company in litigation alleging the misclassification of 4,000 salespersons, defeating multiple plaintiffs’ action by enforcing arbitration agreements in the client’s home state that would have otherwise been difficult to pursue in California.
Hudson was also noted for defeating a series of wage-and-hour actions against a mortgage company after a 10-year dispute by using an unprecedented strategy to settle with one of the plaintiffs and use that settlement to invalidate the other actions from being pursued in court.
