The Joint Commission on Public Ethics recently released its 2013 annual report that highlights State and local lobbying efforts. For the first time, Manatt's New York State Government practice group earned a spot on its list of top 10 lobbyists in the empire state. The report also shows that a record $191 million was spent in 2013 on compensation for in-house and retained lobbyists across the State. Top spenders on lobbying for the year included teachers' unions, hospital groups and a top public employees' union.
