Manatt Health Partner Edo Banach wrote an article for the American Health Law Association exploring the current state of palliative care in the medical field and how it will evolve to meet the needs of people with serious illness and their caregivers.
In his article, Banach clearly defined palliative care alongside its differences from hospice care as well as navigated through the coverage of Medicare in conjunction with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. “Palliative care includes a broad range of medical and non-medical supports, but Medicare reimbursement for palliative care is currently limited to institutional and medical services,” he said.
