In his latest "Exceptionally Appealing" column for Daily Journal, Manatt Appellate Partner Benjamin Shatz reflected on 2021, commenting on notable developments in the appellate world from the state to the federal level.
Shatz reviewed significant proceedings and appointments in the Supreme Court, noting that Biden took office with only 46 open seats, "the fewest for a new president since Bush 41 in 1989." He also examined a handful of amended appellate rules, appellate ethics cases and "a new crop of exciting opinions" regarding appellate precedent cases.
