Bio

Charles E. Weir

Based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, Charles Weir is a prominent litigator with more than two decades of experience representing public and private companies and executives in a broad range of complex business litigation and internal investigations. He is the business unit leader for the Litigation Resources Team.

Charles has particularly deep experience in the health care space representing major health care providers in complex matters ranging from qui tam claims to suits brought under the federal False Claims Act, the California False Claims Act and Section 1871 of the California Insurance Code as well as in class actions and commercial contract disputes.

He is also an experienced trademark and unfair business practices litigator with experience across multiple industries, including in entertainment, financial services, health care, energy and consumer products.

In addition, Charles has significant experience guiding organizations through internal investigations and responding to government subpoenas and information demands.

Prior to joining Manatt, Charles served as the head of the Los Angeles litigation group and co-chair of the class action team at an international law firm. He has been defense counsel in two of the largest shareholder derivative lawsuits in California’s history, and has defended clients in class action matters relating to breaches of fiduciary duty, false advertising, violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), unfair business practices, and violations of both federal and state securities laws.
