Manatt Antitrust and Competition Partner David Reichenberg was quoted in Yahoo! Finance on the increased investigations by antitrust regulators into the nation’s top artificial intelligence (AI) developers.
When a single company controls a high-demand essential resource, regulators are often concerned about competition and may step in to ensure access to that resource remains widely accessible and affordable, Reichenberg said. While government regulators are placing the AI industry under additional scrutiny, they have not clarified which precise markets are of concern.
“DOJ and FTC are notorious for not divulging the specifics of what they're focusing on and where they are in an investigation," Reichenberg said.
