Brenda Pawlak
Brenda Pawlak advises health care providers on business strategy related to federal and state policy developments, with a particular focus on care delivery and payment reform. She has over 15 years of experience advising hospitals, health systems, provider organizations and government agencies on strategy and policy issues related to the management and delivery of health care. She often leads complex multi-stakeholder engagement efforts.
Brenda advises clients on health system strategic planning in a post-health reform world (with a special focus on academic medicine, specialty pediatrics and public hospitals); health system clinical partnership models; clinical integration; health-IT enabled delivery reform; value-based payment governance, infrastructure, strategy and implementation; high-risk population identification, care management and innovative models to address gaps in care; and public and private funding for reform efforts.
Brenda has experience in hospital-physician collaborations; future models for academic medicine; Accountable Care Organization (ACO) business planning; clinical integration network strategy; successful proposal development for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) Health Care Innovation Awards; Medicaid policy and provider delivery transformation (including Section 1115 Waiver Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) programs); health system expansion and post-acute and community-based care partnerships; public-private partnerships and regional population health transformation efforts; provider-health plan partnership strategy; private health insurance exchange considerations; state and local health information exchange policy and operations; Meaningful Use and related IT strategy; and Title X.
Prior to joining Manatt, Brenda was with the Advisory Board Company working with senior health system executives with a focus on business strategy, nursing leadership and hospital-physician partnerships. Previously, Brenda focused on new service and product offering development and brand extension at National Geographic and for a division of News Corporation.
