It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague Steve Polan. Steve was a Government and Regulatory partner based in the Firm’s New York office.
Steve became a partner at Kalkines, Arky, Zall & Bernstein in the early 1990s and was a leading force in its combination with Manatt in 2003, after which he played an integral role in the expansion of our New York office. Steve was a wonderful friend and a valued colleague whose advice and counsel were treasured throughout his time with the Firm.
Steve represented both government agencies and private firms in the development of public infrastructure projects, particularly in the transportation, environmental and information technology sectors. He worked on major projects across the United States, in Europe and in Asia. He also served as an arbitrator in major commercial disputes involving public infrastructure projects.
Prior to joining the Firm, Steve was General Counsel for an international construction and engineering company firm. Before that, he served as Commissioner of Sanitation for the City of New York (1990–1992) and as General Counsel of New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (1981–1989).
We will miss our colleague and friend dearly.
