Kyla Núñez is a litigation associate and trial attorney with extensive experience litigating real estate disputes. Kyla has represented landlords and tenants in commercial and residential lease disputes; utilities in eminent domain litigation involving more than $1 billion in assets, including litigation involving the jurisdiction of Local Agency Formation Commissions; property owners in various disputes involving contract and property rights claims; developers and contractors in construction cases; and lenders and mortgage servicers in single-plaintiff litigation and class actions. Kyla is also routinely involved in a wide variety of litigation matters arising from the land use development process.
Kyla also regularly represents an array of clients in complex business litigation matters involving claims of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference, negligence, unfair competition, fraud, and false advertising. A significant portion of Kyla’s practice involves representing entertainment companies, entertainers, and high net-worth individuals in high-profile disputes involving real property, wrongful death, and defamation claims. She has also represented companies in securities fraud cases, as well as food and beverage makers in class actions involving slack fill and price gouging claims.
Kyla regularly appears in state and federal courts and has handled matters before the American Arbitration Association and other alternative dispute resolution tribunals. She is involved in every step of the litigation including the initial fact investigation, discovery, taking and defending depositions, arguing dispositive motions including motions for summary judgment, and trial including second-chair trial experience. Clients routinely compliment Kyla for taking the time to understand their priorities in initiating and/or defending against lawsuits and implementing effective strategies that reflect those priorities.
Alongside this work, Kyla is dedicated to her pro bono practice. She has represented several clients seeking pathway to citizenship in the United States, including representing individuals in asylum proceedings and filing amicus briefs in the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal. Kyla is also passionate about criminal justice reform and has been recognized by countless organizations for her efforts to reduce mass incarceration by representing incarcerated individuals and advocating for reform in the legislature.
